Biosecurity risks can come from either domestic or offshore origins. The Livestock Production Assurance (LPA) program requires LPA accredited producers to protect their livestock and properties with a documented biosecurity plan.
As part of LPA, biosecurity is a key requirement which assists producers in standing by what they sell. ISC understands that some challenges with biosecurity, such as feral animal invasion, can be out of your control. Being aware of this risk and noting it in your biosecurity plan, as well as how you will manage it, is important should you be audited as an LPA-accredited producer. Read more about biosecurity as an LPA requirement.
If you complete your biosecurity plan online or upload a copy of your plan, you can skip this section in the Self-Assessment. With the release of the LPA Self-Assessment tool, producers who don’t have a biosecurity plan record on their LPA account are provided with an opportunity to complete their biosecurity plan online or upload a copy of their biosecurity plan. Producers who choose to complete their biosecurity plan online or upload a copy of their biosecurity plan as part of the accreditation process will not have to answer the biosecurity questions in the Self-Assessment.
States and territories have different biosecurity requirements. For record keeping required by LPA, producers need to develop a farm biosecurity plan.
