The National Livestock Identification System (NLIS) database is evolving to better meet the needs of its users. The NLIS Database Uplift Project is a major project to improve Australia’s livestock traceability platform. The project, which kicked off in July 2023, is administered by Integrity Systems Company (ISC) and supported by a $22.5 million Australian Government funding grant. The uplifted NLIS is expected to be completed by June 2026, ensuring Australia has a fit-for-purpose and user-friendly traceability platform to track all livestock movements.
